An 18-year-old man has confessed to killing rapper Pop Smoke during a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills in 2020.
According to the LA Times, the suspect, who was 15 at the time, admitted to the first-degree murder charge stemming from the fatal shooting of the Brooklyn rapper.
Pop Smoke was just 20 years old when a group of men broke into his Airbnb, where he was shot and killed.
In addition to the home invasion, he admitted that he deliberately and purposefully discharged a handgun during the crime.
On Friday, L.A. County Superior Court Judge J. Christopher Smith told the suspect, along with his 19-year-old co-defendant, “That man lost his life over no good reason. … You have no right to take somebody’s life. You have no right to take somebody’s property.”
The suspect is expected to stay in the juvenile facility until he is 25.
Corey Walker, 22, another suspect in the case, is being tried in adult court since he was 19 at the time of Pop Smoke’s death.
In addition, two other men, who were minors at the time of the rapper’s death, have also been charged.
