Through his Freewishes Foundation, Future has provided valuable STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education to underprivileged students in Atlanta.
In a press release, the “Mask Off” rapper announced a collaboration between his foundation and 2K Foundations to inaugurate the I Am A Dreamer Lab on Friday. The lab will be located in a school near the rapper’s hometown of Atlanta.
“It’s important that all students receive access to STEAM education regardless of their background,” he said.“Our Freewishes Foundation, with the support of the 2K Foundations, has helped make this possible in our Atlanta community. We’re thankful for their commitment to support our initiative.”
The foundation’s executive director, Tia Wilburn, added, “We are creating a science technology, engineering, art, and mathematics lab as an extension of Freewishes educational initiative. We wanted to add art because both Future and I support creativity.”
According to the foundation’s website, the Freewishes Foundation “has evolved into a versatile non-profit organization that sponsors a wide-range of programs, events and services throughout Atlanta.”
In December, Future and the Freewishes Foundation brought joy to Atlanta by hosting the I AM A DREAMER Holiday Pop-Up event. The event treated 1,000 families to an extravagant shopping spree at Target, spreading Christmas cheer throughout the city.
“Christmas has always been another opportunity to give and not receive for the foundation,” Wilburnsaid in a statement. “We’ve been committed to giving back to those in need for over ten years, especially in metro Atlanta and the neighborhood we grew up in, Kirkwood.”
