Dj Envy stepped in to give his side of a circulating video that has audio of a phone conversation between him and rapper Gunplay.
In the leaked audio, Gunplay confronts Envy about comments he made about a GoFundMe account the rapper and his wife set up when their daughter became sick. The “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” star was also heard telling Envy he would slap him over the issue.
Envy was heard apologizing in the video and reiterated that he didn’t specifically mention Gunplay’s wife or daughter in the rant. On Tuesday morning, The Breakfast Club host talked about that intense phone and issued a public apology.
“When Gunplay called me,” Envy explained, “because he’s a friend to the room and he was upset at first, you can tell he was upset at first, I’m like ‘he’s a friend’ so like speaking to any friend who’s upset, so I let him go. I let him vent and afterwards we had a discussion and said ‘If your wife was offended, that wasn’t my intent and I apologize.'”
At the time of the GoFundMe comment, Envy was going on a rant about rapper Rick Ross over their ongoing feud surrounding their car shows.
Envy implied that Ross should donate funds to the GoFundMe page that Gunplay and his wife made to get financial assistance to help pay for medical bills for their newborn baby, Power 1051 radio reported.
The couple’s baby suffered from a heart defect and had to undergo open heart surgery at three days old. Gunplay and his wife said they waited for a public apology from Envy but it never happened so they posted the phone call clip.
“I knew @djenvy would renig on his word to apologize publicly and I knew I would have to do it for him I waited and waited he had all the opportunities and didn’t do it so I did it for him,” Gunplay wrote in his caption.
