Taco Bell is putting a vegan spin on its popular Crunchwrap for those who want to enjoy the snack in a meatless way.
The Vegan Crunchwrap will serve as the chain’s inaugural fully vegan entrée, its first effort towards expanding its selections for those who do not eat food created from animals. The Vegan Crunchwrap will be made essentially the same as the original. However, Taco Bell will introduce a seasoned plant-based protein that they’ve worked years to develop. Customers can expect the same shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a tostada shell. It’ll then be topped with blanco and nacho cheese for the finishing touch. These ingredients have been certified vegan by the American Vegetarian Association.
Those who want to experience the Vegan Crunchwrap nationwide will have to sit tight for a bit. This exciting new menu item is only available at Taco Bell restaurants in Los Angeles, New York City, and Orlando during its test phase. In its press release, the Mexican-inspired chain said they were eager to “gauge customer feedback” to see how well the wrap is received.
Missy Schaaphok, Director of Global Nutrition and Sustainability at Taco Bell, says customers often swap out certain ingredients for veggies with many of the customizable meals. The Vegan Crunchwrap will make it so they no longer have to request substitutes.
As of now, customers in the test cities can get the Vegan Crunchwrap at the following locations: 6741 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028; 976 6th Ave, New York, NY 10018 and 11893 East Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32826.
