It has long been debated who can take on Lil Wayne in a Verzuz battle, and the answer is simple: no one.
Lil Wayne is making it clear once again that he is not interested in a Verzuz battle unless he can somehow go head-to-head with himself. The “Something You Forgot” lyricist spoke with Rolling Stone about the possibility of performing on the friendly music showcase platform. While he wasn’t completely opposed to appearing on the show, it would be his commercial records versus his famed underground cuts that viewers would be hearing.
“I was interested in Mixtape Weezy going against Lil Wayne. That would have been crazy,” the Young Money founder stated.
Wayne released his first solo album, “Tha Block Is Hot,” in 1999. His fanbase flocked to the album, but the Cash Money artist wanted to plant his feet in the mixtape world, dropping his first solo tape, “Da Drought,” in 2003. Since then, there have been long debates regarding his role in the once-thriving mixtape era and whether or not he was singlehandedly the driving force behind it. This is partially why the 40-year-old sees absolutely no competition.
“There ain’t no other artist that can stand on the stage next to me, bro. I’m sorry,” he told interviewer Andre Gee.
In terms of Verzuz, fans on social media have requested he goes against 50 Cent, Eminem, and even Kanye West. Some have even asked that he confront his artist Drake on the Swizz Beatz and Timbaland-founded forum. Unfortunately, for those eager to see Weezy play his biggest hits among his rap colleagues, it’s likely never happening. Though, one can continue to dream.

Drake, Hov, Kanye, and Eminem the only people I’d see standing on equal footing with Lil Wayne in a Verzuz. https://t.co/HBZB5K9gMF
