Sukihana has accepted YK Osiris‘ apology after he forced a kiss on her in a now-viral video.
The incident took place this past weekend as the “Eating” rapper co-hosted The Crew League basketball event. In the widely circulated video clip, Osiris can be seen holding Suki’s face and initiating an unwanted kiss on her lips despite her clear indications of disinterest. This prompted fans to call out the singer and accuse him of sexual assault. He later took to social media to apologize while saying he was “embarrassed” by his actions.
Early Friday morning, Suki released a statement on the incident.
She started the lengthy statement off by thanking everyone who reached out to her before acknowledging that Osiris has apologized to her both privately and publicly, and she has chosen to accept his apology.
“God always forgives me and I can always forgive others,” she wrote.
She explained that her accepting his apology was not excusing his actions but destiny choosing to give him grace.
“He is young,” she continued. “It is my prayer that this experience will cause him and others to be more mindful and respect the personal boundaries of others. I am human, a woman, a mother and daughter before I am an entertainer. No matter what my lyrics express, I still have boundaries and a right to have them.”
“I am giving YK the grace and forgiveness that I wanted to be given to me as I was discovering and defining myself on this very public and sometimes unforgiving entertainment platform,” she concluded.
