Andrew Tate has officially been indicted on multiple sex crimes, including rape and human trafficking.
The popular podcaster was charged in Romania on Tuesday after months of allegations from young women claiming to be victims of Tate and his brother Tristan. Both men were charged, along with two female Romanian residents who aided in the crimes. Additionally, Tate faces charges connected to forming a criminal ring whose sole purpose is to traffic women in Romania, as well as the U.S. and U.K. The indictment names seven victims, who claim they were lured into the exploitation ring with promises of romantic relationships by the Tate brothers. They claim the duo took them to remote locations and forced them to make pornography, which was later shared on social media and the brothers’ webcam database. The scheme began in 2021.
Tate also stands to lose much of his luxury lifestyle, which he constantly flaunts online. This includes 15 high-end vehicles, a watch collection, and nearly $300 million in cryptocurrency. A Romanian judge will spend the next 60 days inspecting the indictment files before a trial begins. However, once that phase starts, the trial is expected to take several years, according to the BBC.
Tate and the other defendants are being accused of intimidating their victims with a string of cruel methods. In one instance, a woman’s social media login information was seized, and the ring posted explicit images of her. Another woman was beaten when she refused to continue making x-rated content.
Tate has maintained his innocence and remains on house arrest in Romania, along with his co-defendants.
