The city of Cleveland is expected to have a street named after Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
According to a report from News 5 Cleveland, the city will rename the intersection of East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Way” later this summer.
“Growing up on that street was crazy,” Krayzie Bone told Rock The Bells. “We had many, many adventures on that street. We got in so much trouble. Our street was 99th and St. Clair, but we renamed our street because of the two nines – the 99- we called it ‘Double Glock.'”
“We started rappin together back in junior high school, then it carried over to high school until we got out of school,” Krayzie continued. “When we got out of school that’s when all of us were on 99th. We was definitely focused on our music around the time we was on 99th for sure.”
The news comes one year after fans created a petition for the signage. “There’s nothing here that pays homage to that or to the group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony,” the petition read.
Cormega praised Bone Thugs-N-Harmony earlier this month on Instagram, calling them “one of the most unique rap groups ever.”
“Before Eazy E left this world, he gave us a reminder of his savvy as a music executive. Bone Thugs N Harmony was and is one of the most unique rap groups ever,” Cormega captioned the post. “They harmonize like a choir while simultaneously lyrically staying aligned with rap group precision and verbally switching tempos perfectly.”
The group will be honored with a ceremony on August 11, between noon and 2 pm, led by the Spread the Love Foundation, Cleveland City Councilman Anthony Hairston, and Ward 10.
