Nicki Minaj’s husband has been unable to successfully remove his name from the New York Sex Offender Registry despite the presentation of compelling evidence.
After previously claiming that he was not provided information about a 2004 hearing that would have allowed him to dispute his designation as a medium-risk sex offender, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty has chosen to retract his lawsuit against the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
Petty argued that his past offenses, including a charge of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 on Jennifer Hough, placed him in a disadvantaged position when it came to challenging the requirement of being listed on the sex offender registry.
The government responded by dismissing Petty’s claims as lacking merit and provided a transcript of the hearing in which he was present.
“We were just going according to his statement, what he’s telling us, that he wasn’t present. He still says that he wasn’t there and maybe someone is putting this together just to get him. I don’t think that he purposely lied to us. I just believe maybe he forgot,” said Petty’s legal team.
Following the dismissal of Petty’s claim, recent news revealed that their neighbors have initiated a petition urging the rapper and her husband to leave their $19.5 million Hidden Hills residence, citing concerns about safety due to his status as a registered sex offender.
