DC YoungFly is speaking out about how his faith is helping him through the death of his longtime partner, Jacky Oh.
The comedian appeared on “The Breakfast Club,” where he was incredibly transparent about how his Christian background has allowed him to deal with his past and present trauma.
“I believe in a higher power, and I understand how life goes. We can’t get mad at how our life goes. We can only control our emotions and how we react to it,” he explained to DJ Envy.
The 85 South star has gotten back to work after the death of his children’s mother on May 31st. The pair were together for several years and had three kids, the youngest being just a few months old. Jacky passed away after undergoing a mommy makeover in Miami.
“All the prayers, all the text messages, all the love that ya’ll was giving, I felt it, I felt it… That’s God’s energy right there, letting me know that these are other God-fearing people that’s standing with me,” he continued.
Charlamagne Tha God pointed out that many felt that he didn’t appear sad enough as he continued on with his career. However, YoungFly fired back that people didn’t know what he goes through behind closed doors.
“People gotta understand, this is a forever thing. Ya’ll want me to lose my mind right now. So if I lose my mind right now, who gonna take care of my kids? Who gonna take care of my family?” he asked.
Jacky and DC began dating in 2015, growing their relationship while she was a model on Wild’ N Out and he was one of the signature comedians. Their family life was frequently documented on social media, something that fans will greatly miss.
Let’s continue to keep the entire family of Jacky Oh in our thoughts and prayers.
