Monique Samuels is finally speaking out about her divorce from former Washington Redskins player Chris Samuels.
The reality star held an Instagram Live session on Thursday, addressing fans’ most pressing questions. She admitted that she and Chris had been growing apart for years. When news broke last year that they were separating, Monique explained that the couple was actually trying hard to make things work. However, after therapy, both together and separately, she knew there was no saving the marriage. Despite the divorce, there is no bad blood. She even praised Chris for his growth since they split up.
“Even my children notice a difference in how we’re able to parent with us, not focusing so much on the marriage. We’re just focusing on ourselves, and we’re focusing on our children,” she explained.
As of now, Monique and Chris are still living together, though she did purchase a new home in March. She plans to continue living with her ex until her home renovations are complete. Thankfully, the former lovers are arguing less, according to the ex “Real Housewives of Potomac” star. As for whether or not TV played a role in the couple’s demise, Monique said the couple were already in a bad place when they began filming. Doing “RHOP” actually gave their relationship “new life,” allowing the couple to spend more time together doing group dates and other things pertaining to the show. Unfortunately, “deep-rooted issues” didn’t necessarily go away, resulting in a split.
It looks like fans won’t get to see Monique live out her single life on “Love & Marriage D.C.,” as she is now done with the show for good due to failed contract negotiations.
