The social media platform TikTok has launched a new music streaming service called TikTok Music in two countries.
The company announced the news Thursday.
According to Forbes, it’s TikTok’s parent company ByteDance’s second attempt to compete with music streaming giants Spotify, Apple, and Amazon.
The service is only offered to subscription users in Indonesia and Brazil. Subscribers can sync their TikTok accounts to a TikTok Music account and save songs heard in viral TikTok videos, as well as stream full versions of those songs.
The company will also offer subscribers the ability to upload an external playlist to their account. They can also listen to music ad-free and download songs to listen to when they are offline.
TikTok is offering a one-month free trial of the new streaming service to users in Brazil and Indonesia. After that, Brazilian subscribers are charged $3.49 a month, and in Indonesia, iOS users pay $3.25 a month, while Android users pay $2.96 a month for the first year, then $3.25.
There is no free membership option.
It is unclear when or if the service will be offered in the U.S.
