A Texas boy who experienced bullying gained widespread attention after a video captured him knocking on his neighbors’ door, searching for friends his age.
In a viral TikTok video that garnered over 61 million views within three days, Shayden Walker, appears anxious as he hesitantly stands on the doorstep of his neighbor’s house.
“What’s up, man?” the neighbor, Brennan Ray, answers.
Walker then responded, “Hi. I just wanted to see if you knew any kids around like, 11 or 12, maybe, because I need some friends. Like, really bad.”
Ray attempted to assist Walker and suggested him to make friends with the kids at another house down the street. However, Walker stated that he stopped being friends with those kids “because they’re bullies to me.”
Desperately in need of companionship, Walker proceeds to inquire if Ray has children, with the latter saying he has a 2-year-old child. Surprisingly, this doesn’t stop Walker who responded, “That’s great. I actually … I love 2-year-old, to be honest. They’re just the most cutest things I’ve ever known.”
Following the interaction, Ray and his wife Angel revealed that Walker had initially approached their residence approximately thirty minutes prior but walked away. Motivated by their compassion, the couple created a GoFundMe campaign aimed at assisting Walker in his quest to find friends. The funds raised would be allocated for purchasing a gaming system, school attire, and potentially even amusement park tickets. In no time, Ray and Angel surpassed their initial $7,000 goal with the help of the community.
“Thank you all for your generosity and kindness! We expected to see support from this community but we’re shocked and amazed by how everyone’s shown up for Shayden,” the couple wrote on the page. “We decided to turn off donations while we coordinate with his family, but all funds will stay in the GoFundMe account until then. We’ll keep you updated along the way. Thank you! #kindnessmatters”
