Madonna has broken her silence after suffering a bacterial infection that left her hospitalized.
After weeks of speculation about her health, the pop star took to Instagram to update her fans on Monday. Madonna was rushed to the emergency room on June 24th after the infection began to take a severe toll on her. After a short stint in the ICU, the “Vogue” singer returned home. Before she was hospitalized, Madonna was reportedly given a dose of Narcan to help with suspected septic shock, though the drug is commonly associated with reversing drug overdoses. While Madonna didn’t go into detail about any of the specifics, she did say waking up in the hospital sent her thoughts first to her children and then to the many people looking forward to seeing her on the road. As of now, she will postpone the North American stops and set out on her European trek beginning in October.
“I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” the icon wrote in her heartfelt statement.
Sources reported that Madonna was bedridden. However, she was spotted out in New York City’s Upper East Side over the weekend, according to Page Six. The outlet noted that it didn’t appear she was having trouble walking and seemed to be in good spirits. Nevertheless, her longtime manager Guy Oseary confirmed last week that the primary focus right now is her getting better, and all obligations were on hold for the foreseeable future.
Let’s continue to send the Queen of Pop well wishes as she continues her healing journey.
