1501 Certified Entertainment CEO Carl Crawford Responds To Rapper Erica Banks Claiming He Owes Her Money: “Last Time I Checked We’re $500,000 In The Hole With Warner”

There seems to be some tension between Erica Banks and Carl Crawford!

Last month, the rapper revealed on social media that she was no longer a part of Crawford’s 1501 Certified Entertainment, Houston-based label.

“I’m not with them anymore,” Banks wrote on Instagram in response to a fan.

Following that, Banks dropped her single “Real Rap B*tch (Poppin It).” In the track, she boldly raps, “I don’t care about that label, they can see me/They owe me money, they’re just greedy.”

Apart from her signing with 1501, Banks also secured an agreement with Warner Records two years ago. Her 2022 studio album, “Diary of the Flow Queen,” was released through 1501 Entertainment under an exclusive license with Warner.

Crawford recently caught wind of Banks’ statement and took to Instagram Live to address artists expressing their frustrations towards their respective labels.

“It’s just part of the business,” Crawford said. “I come from the sports world where one plus one equals two. In the music business, one plus one don’t equal two.”

He added, “Erica’s not even making no money for me to take… I was just as surprised as y’all [were] to hear we’re greedy and stealing money. I’m still trying to figure that one out because last I checked, we’re $500,000 in the hole with Warner. That’s all I know. So who owes who money?

Furthermore, Crawford is currently battling a legal dispute with Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion. Following her rapid rise to global fame, Megan allegedly sought to renegotiate her agreement with 1501 Entertainment. As a result, both parties have been in and out of court fighting ongoing legal battles.
