Congratulations are in order for tennis star Naomi Osaka, who has officially entered the world of motherhood!
According to a source close to the adored athlete who spoke exclusively to People, confirming that she and her partner Cordae have welcomed their baby girl. It’s unclear exactly when Osaka gave birth, but it appears to have happened fairly recently. The insider did not reveal any intimate details about the infant but says both mom and baby are “doing well.”
Back in January, the four-time Grand Slam singles champ revealed that she and the Grammy-nominated rapper were expecting their first child together. In early June, she announced to her 2.7 million followers that she would be having a daughter with her longtime boyfriend. The couple have been together since 2019.

In 2021, she took a hiatus from tennis to focus on her mental health after a long battle with anxiety and depression. After announcing her pregnancy, it was obvious that her highly anticipated return to the sport would not take place in the 2023 season. Given her previous stance of not knowing when she’d play again, the prominent athlete now has a bigger reason to stay away from the court for a while. Osaka did vow to return to tennis at some point after welcoming her daughter, but fans should be patient with the new mom.
Neither Osaka nor Cordae have confirmed the birth of their daughter to the media, and her name has not yet been revealed.
