Jamie Foxx is facing a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman at a New York City restaurant in 2015, but he's strongly denying these claims. His spokesperson told PEOPLE that the alleged incident never occurred, referring to a similar lawsuit filed in 2020 in Brooklyn that was dismissed. They believe this new claim will also be dismissed and plan to sue for malicious prosecution. The lawsuit was filed in the New York Supreme Court. According to the documents, the woman, referred to as Jane Doe, claims the incident happened at Catch NYC in August 2015. She alleges that after asking Foxx for a picture, he appeared drunk and began making comments about her appearance. The lawsuit says he then led her to a secluded area, touched her inappropriately, and only stopped when her friend returned. The lawsuit also mentions that a security guard witnessed the incident but didn't help. It was filed on the last day allowed by New York’s Adult Survivors Act, a law that gave sexual assault victims a one-year window to sue, regardless of when the assault happened. Jane Doe claims she's suffered physically and emotionally, including anxiety and economic harm, and is seeking damages for her pain and suffering, as well as punitive damages.

Jamie Foxx is speaking out about his health issues for the first time since he was hospitalized in April.

The 55-year-old posted a video on Instagram thanking everyone that prayed for him and sent messages after his medical scare. The actor suffered an unknown medical complication while he was in Atlanta filming Back In Action.

“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back,” he said of the outpouring of love and support. “I went through something I thought I would never ever go through.”

Foxx explained that he knew that people were waiting for an update, but he didn’t want them to see him in the state that he was in.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show,” he continued. “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

He credited his sister and daughter for thanking his life and thanked God and the medical professionals providing him care throughout the ordeal. He also thanked his family for not letting details about his condition get out.

“I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way — and y’all know they kept it airtight; they didn’t let nothin’ out,” Foxx said. “They protected me. And that’s what I hope everyone could have in the moments like these.”

He acknowledged that people began to speculate about his condition by not addressing it publicly. He shut down some of the rumors and even joked about people saying he was blind. In good spirits, the actor showed his “eyes are working just fine.”

“Said I’m paralyzed. I’m not paralyzed,” Foxx continued. “But I did go through… I went to hell and back. And my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back. And I’m able to work.”

Toward the end of the message, Foxx became emotional while addressing his fans and acknowledging just how sick he was. Ever the comedian, he also joked about being a clone, pretending to reach up to remove his face before pulling his hand away and saying, “just kidding!”

“I’m on my way back,” he assured fans.

Foxx’s daughter, Corrine, revealed in April that her father experienced a “medical complication.” She said he was recovering but did not provide any other details.

The actor wrote on Instagram that he was “feeling blessed” in May. Shortly after, Corrine spoke out again regarding her father’s condition, dispelling any rumors that the family was preparing for “the worst.” Instead, she said, he was home recuperating and playing pickleball.
