As the world continues to side-eye Carlee Russell, her boyfriend urges everyone to be kinder to her.
Thomar Latrell Simmons, who some internet sleuths claim has dumped the nursing student, recently broke his silence about the incident. However, he took a stance that most people would not expect from him. When speaking exclusively to The New York Post, Simmons asked critics to take it easy on Russell.
“The only thing I can say is I want everyone to stop bullying her. I know what it seems like what she did. Just stop bullying on social media,” Simmons pleaded. Instead, he asked people to consider Russell’s mental well-being with having to witness the continuous slander online.
His comments come as a surprise, considering that all remnants of Russell have been wiped from his social media accounts. Shortly after the 25-year-old showed up at her parent’s home on July 15th, Simmons posted an update, thanking everyone for their prayers and revealing that his then-girlfriend was “literally fighting for her life for 48 hours.” That statement has since been deleted.
Police in Hoover, Alabama, previously said Russell’s story did not add up. On Monday, her attorney’s released a statement revealing that she did indeed lie about the kidnapping. She shared that she did not see a child walking alone and was not abducted while checking on said child. The sister of Thomar, Mya Simmons, recently shared a Facebook status accusing Russell of lying about the ordeal, though there had been no confirmation of this until Monday’s revelation. Simmons has not commented on the latest development.
