Nene Leakes Addresses Son Bryson’s Recent Arrest for Felony Drug Possession: “There’s Not Much That I Can Do” [Video]

Nene Leakes has spoken openly about her oldest son’s battle with addiction after his recent drug arrest.

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum granted an exclusive interview with Carlos King for an episode of his “Reality with the King” podcast. There, she revealed that her son Bryson Bryant has dealt with his substance abuse for several years. According to Leakes, she has tried multiple times to help her son through rehabilitation, though he has relapsed after each stint. At this point, the 55-year-old says there is not much more she can do.

“As a mom, just to watch it, my hands are tied. There’s not much that I can do. For people who have had children or family members that have been on drugs, they know that they have to be ready. They have to simply be ready,” she told the television mogul.

She admitted that she tried tough love with Bryant by forcing him into treatment facilities several times. However, after receiving therapy herself, she learned that there was no way she could make her 33-year-old change until he was ready. Instead, the Linnethia Lounge owner said she is “numb to the situation.”

Bryant was arrested on July 3rd on numerous charges, including possession of a controlled substance. He was also hit with a charge for telling police he was his brother Brent when he was stopped. Police later determined the drugs Bryant had with him was fentanyl. The father of three remains inside the Gwinnett County Jail on a $6,100 bond.
