Kylian Mbappé Shuts Down $776 Million Deal With Saudi Professional League’s Al-Hilal

Soccer star Kylian Mbappé has turned down a $776 million deal with the prestigious Saudi Professional League’s Al-Hilal team.

On Wednesday, Yahoo Sports shared that the Paris Saint-Germain Ligue 1 star was not interested in negotiations surrounding the trade, despite it being one of the most notable in sports. The agreement would have included a record-breaking transfer fee of at least $300 million that would have gone to Paris Saint-Germain. Had Mbappé accepted the contract, it would have made him the highest-paid athlete in the world. However, football expert Fabrizio Romano shared that the actual amount may have been closer to $214 million, a vast difference from the reported near-billion-dollar price tag. Still, it would have been one of the largest salaries in soccer history.

Last week, Romano revealed that Paris Saint-Germain was willing to part with Mbappé. The club was even under the impression that Mbappé would be joining Real Madrid after the 2023-24 season. In June, Mbappé made it clear he would not continue playing with PSG after this season concludes. He was not present during their summer tour in Japan but remained a member of the team, though they won’t allow him to play. His issues with PSG attracted other clubs, including SPL, who offered a massive amount.

PSG Ligue 1 will now likely look for a new transfer partner that Mbappé is comfortable with. The Saudi Professional League is still in need of a star player for Al-Hilal. Therefore, that contract offer may land in the lap of another player. Lionel Messi has already rejected an offer from them.
