A lawsuit has been filed again Vic Mensa over unpaid rent. But the rapper has his reasons for why he bailed out on those payments. According to him, the landlord did not make sure the property was safe, and a break-in occurred.
But the landlord’s attorney, George Georgopoulos, says otherwise by claiming the rapper posted his luxurious lifestyle on social media.
His former lawsuit says Mensa owes $8,340 in rent and late fees, TMZ reported. Georgopoulos says his client “is left holding the bag of paying real estate taxes, maintenance, and other costs for the building while Vic Mensa continues to use and occupy the space without paying rent.”
A representative for Mensa told TMZ another side, implying the landlord is at fault because the landlord “put the lives of Vic Mensa’s family in danger, particularly his girlfriend.”
In March, authorities were called to the apartment after someone broke in while Mensa’s girlfriend was alone. The suspect, who had a criminal record and was in violation of the sex offender registry, was arrested and charged with breaking into the apartment.
Vic feels the landlord failed to take adequate security measures around the building despite his numerous requests and moved out immediately after that incident. He also stopped paying rent.
