Viola Davis has paused filming of the G20 movie following the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strikes despite the guilds’ Approval.
Davis told the LA Times: “I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike.”
Since the strikes, Hollywood has been at a standstill, so specific productions, particularly those not affiliated with major studios, have received permission to continue filming.
SAG-AFTRA has granted waivers to several independent projects, including G20. The film, backed in part by Davis’ company, JuVee Productions, has Davis attached as both producer and lead actress.
“I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA, and the WGA,” Davis said.
