Live Nation and rapper Travis Scott have settled another lawsuit connected to the deadly Astroworld Festival. Along with Scoremore, security companies, and festival organizers, Scott and Live Nation settled with the family of 14-year-old John Hilgert, who died during the event.
Hilgert’s family reportedly withdrew their lawsuit earlier this year.
The victim’s family is now the third party to settle their lawsuit surrounding the crowd crush that took place on Nov. 6, 2021 in Houston, Texas. The tragedy left ten dead and thousands injured.
The families of Axel Acosta and Brianna Rodriguez, two other Astroworld attendees who died, previously settled their separate lawsuits filed after the event, Pitchfork reported.
Last week, Houston police released their 1,266-page report on the tragedy, which was the same day the Utopia artist released his album. The report included interviews from Scott, Drake, and other attendees who were a part of the crowd surge. Scott was performing on stage when the incident unfolded, saying he was told through his earpiece, “you got to wrap it up, it’s getting kinda hectic out there,” but stated that he was not made aware of the gravity of the situation until later.
Scott was not charged criminally following the conclusion of a 19-month investigation heard by a Harris County grand jury. However, the rapper and Live Nation still face multiple civil suits stemming from the event.
