Taco Bell is putting its own spin on the popular birria-style tacos with a new cheesy handheld.
The fast food chain is kicking off the new month with its Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco. Like the Mexican dish, the hard-shell taco is stuffed with slow-braised shredded beef. In Taco Bell’s version, they topped the meat with melted cheese. The fried corn shell also has the three-cheese blend on the side of it for maximum cheesiness. They also threw in a thin layer of smoky chipotle spread inside the shell to enhance the flavor. To further set the vibes, each taco will come with a separate cup filled with nacho cheese and a red sauce, both of which are specifically for dipping. The latest menu offering arrived at locations across the U.S. on August 3rd and starts at $3.49.
Taco Bell’s newest food item is a welcome change to its dishes, most of which use seasoned ground beef. Though, the amount of meat in each meal has recently been called into question. The Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco arrives at a time when the company faces a massive false advertising lawsuit. The claim, filed in New York City, alleges that Taco Bell puts much fewer ingredients in its food than in its product photographs in stores and online. The complainant called the skimpy meals “unfair and financially damaging to consumers.”
In addition to the Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, the Volcano menu has returned for the first time since 2016. This lineup includes the Volcano Burrito, Volcano Taco, and Lava Sauce. These tasty items are available now but only for a limited time.
