Now that Tory Lanez has been sentenced to a decade behind bars, more is being revealed about his prison term.
Journalist Meghann Cuniff, who has covered the trial extensively, was present during this week’s two-day sentencing. She was among the first to break the news of the ruling and, on Wednesday, shed more light on exactly what will happen during his stint. According to Cuniff, the “Say It” crooner will get a total of 305 days stripped from his sentence. Lanez will be credited for the 231 days he has already spent in custody, an additional 40 days for the time he spent on house arrest, and another 34 days.
Lanez will be credited for 231 days he’s already spent in jail, and he gets 15% credit of 34 days. Herriford also is crediting his 40 days of house arrest, for a total of 305 days. He'll request bail pending appeal, which will be heard Aug. 15. (Extremely unlikely to be granted.)

Lanez is already gearing up to appeal his conviction and will seek bail, though Cuniff believes his chances of getting out are “extremely unlikely.” Lanez’s defense team attributed his shooting of Megan Thee Stallion during his sentencing to alcoholism and childhood trauma. In his statements, Lanez also noted that he and the “Body” star bonded over their grief from losing their mothers at young ages. He even referred to her as his “friend” in court, maintaining that he still harbors much love for her. Megan pleaded with the courts to give him the maximum sentence due to his lack of remorse and constant assassinating of her character in the wake of the 2020 shooting.
Multiple people wrote statements to the judge in support of Lanez, including Iggy Azalea and a doctor who claimed Lanez was an advocate for those experiencing hair loss. Nevertheless, he will likely do the majority of his sentence.
