On Wednesday, the late rapper’s estate and the beer giant announced plans to collaborate on a limited-edition revival of the magazine.
The forthcoming issue will echo the themes of Biggie’s lyrics from the album “Ready to Die,” showcasing stories of resilience embodied by Biggie and his ongoing influence inspiring Hip Hop artists.
According to a press release, the issue will “share innumerable stories of grit and resilience exemplified by Biggie himself, as well as his lasting legacy that continues to inspire Hip Hop artists to this day.”
The launch will feature an opening message from Biggie’s mother, Ms. Voletta Wallace, and insights from industry veteran Gerrie Summers, the founding Editor-in-Chief of Word Up! Magazine. It will also showcase handwritten lyrics, rare photos, personal items, and untold stories highlighting The Notorious B.I.G.’s lasting impact.
Scheduled for release on September 13th, aligning with the 29th anniversary of Ready to Die, the limited edition magazine will have 5,000 copies accessible at chosen sites in Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Chicago.
