Fans are not too happy with singer Mario at the moment for penning a letter in support of Tory Lanez. Mario joins the likes of fellow musician Iggy Azalea, who also wrote to Judge Herriford ahead of his controversial sentencing for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
In the note, Mario shared that he’s known Lanez for seven years and spoke highly of the artist who would “give his last for those closest to him.” The “Let Me Love You” star said he’d watched Lanez struggle as an independent artist, though his work ethic afforded him a successful career. Mario also expressed surprise that Lanez would be violent towards a woman but asked that he and his son be “treated fairly.”
When his gentle comments about the convicted shooter surfaced, fans could not help but question why he was defending him, especially as Mario gears up for a musical comeback of his own. Just as with Iggy, a lethal online dragging ensued, but is Mario wrong in this situation?
