The Bronx was the birthplace of hip hop, so it’s only fitting that the show commemorating the genre’s 50th anniversary be held at Yankee Stadium. And with the party at the stadium, it’s only fitting that Derek Jeter makes an appearance.
The former Yankee walked onto the stage during Kid Capri’s Hip Hop 50 Live performance, sending the crowd into cheers and applause.
“Hip hop, welcome home,” he said. “I want to thank my brother Kid Capri for having me out here tonight.”
He added, “And I want everyone here to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop. Fifty years. At the same time, I want you to look forward to the next 50 years.”

In the background, you can hear the crowd chanting “Derek Jeter.” Jeter and Kid Capri hugged and shook hands before the beloved shortstop left the stage.
The Hip Hop 50 Live show was a special night for hip hop. The show featured an A-list lineup of artists like Run-DMC, Lil Wayne, Nas, and Snoop Dogg, to name a few.
