According to TMZ, Tae and Mo entered into a domestic partnership (similar to common law marriage) in 2008 but soon separated in 2011 citing irreconcilable differences. According to court docs filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Lashontae took Monique’s last name. Lashontae has filed legal documents to terminate the partnership and regain her last name.
A domestic partnership is basically is a legal partnership between two individuals who live together and share a domestic life for a set/extended amount of time, but are not joined by marriage or civil union. It really becomes a big deal when you claim each other on legal documents, taxes, health insurance or use each other’s last name. Domestic partnership & common law marriage are very similar & not reserved to same sex unions. This is especially important for you ladies who call the man you live with your husband, be careful, he might end up becoming your husband for real lol
