A Texas school bus driver has been suspended after almost colliding with three children while they were crossing the street.
The incident, captured on camera, was witnessed by alarmed parents, including a mother who could be heard shouting at her young daughter to move out of the path as the bus approached her and another boy. The third child, who was just about to step in front of the bus, quickly stepped back to avoid the potential danger.
“I wasn’t even 20 yards away from him, and I would not have been able to help him,” Matt McCormick, who was picking up his son, said. “Didn’t even give time for anybody to be across the street. Nothing. Just bye.”
On that very day, McCormick filed a complaint with the Denton Independent School District and included the video as evidence. He alleges that the district sent an email in response with basic details about the occurrence, but did not offer any clarification regarding the driver’s actions that almost led to his child being struck.
“Thankfully, nothing happened to him, nothing happened to the other children, everybody’s completely fine other than emotional stressors,” McCormick added.
As reported by Fox 4 news, the driver has been suspended, and the district is currently in the process of conducting an ongoing investigation.
