Houston Rockets player Kevin Porter Jr. is facing charges after his girlfriend, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The 23-year-old player was hauled off to jail Monday morning shortly after 6:00 a.m. in New York City. The arrest came after police received a phone call about a woman being assaulted. When they responded to the Millennium Hilton New York Hotel, they found Gondrezick with a gash on her face and bruising. She was also complaining of intense neck pain. Gondrezick was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was found to have at least one broken bone, NBC New York reports.
Gondrezick told police that Porter punched her multiple times and firmly choked her during an altercation that began after he was locked out of their hotel room. Shortly before, they were enjoying a night out, but Gondrezick returned to the hotel room early. When Porter got there, things quickly turned violent.
Gondrezick’s sister, former baller Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins and wife of the late Dwayne Haskins, slammed Porter on Instagram for assaulting her sister. She issued a stern warning to the embattled NBA star.
“@Kevinporterjr if you think you gone touch my sister and not get touched, count ya f*****g days,” she wrote in the now deleted IG Story.

Gondrezick has not yet commented publicly on the matter. Meanwhile, Porter Jr. has been hit with charges of second-degree assault and strangulation. He has since bonded out of jail. The Rockets have stated that they are still gathering information on the matter.
