Bow Wow may have had one of the most successful childhood rap careers, but he still feels the void of missing out on typical youthful experiences.
The “Outta My System” rapper shared a heartfelt Instagram Story Wednesday morning. In his message, he reminisced about the many things he skipped while chasing his music dreams. Bow, whose real name is Shad Moss, underwent traditional education until high school. From there, he was forced to go through homeschooling after his stardom began to soar.
“I never been to prom nor college. I wanna pledge so bad I wish I was a part of a fraternity,” he revealed to fans.
Bow’s career has resulted in unprecedented success. His debut album, “Beware Of The Dogs,” sold over 100,000 in its first week and went on to become triple-platinum. Afterwards, he earned numerous gold and platinum RIAA certifications. Aside from music, he dominated films, starring in classics such as “Like Mike,” “Johnson Family Vacation” and “Lottery Ticket.” He then landed a hosting gig on “106 & Park” and launched the wildly popular Scream Tour series. Despite a career that many artists dream about, he admitted that he’d love to experience the things his followers have.
“Yall think I’m lucky because of my lifestyle, but I really want what y’all have,” he added to his IG Post.
Fame has brought its share of headaches, such as a July lawsuit from someone claiming to have sent Bow $3,000 for a guest verse he never delivered. While he has claimed the individual was catfished, they aren’t convinced. A separate 2013 lawsuit left Bow on the hook for $80,000 after using a stripper’s footage in a music video without her consent. Luckily for the 36-year-old, none of these instances have seemed to break him.
