Fat Joe is returning to his hosting duties for this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards.
The “Lean Back” MC will come for his second year in a row as host of the star-studded night. Joe led last year’s ceremony and performed alongside Wu-Tang Clan, Remy Ma, and several others. His amazing skills obviously impressed BET enough to welcome the podcast host back.Â
“We are thrilled to welcome back a true hip-hop legend in Fat Joe as this year’s host! As we round out a banner year of celebrating hip-hop’s landmark half-century of influencing culture, he is the perfect emcee to lead us through what promises to be an iconic night,” Connie Orlando, EVP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, shared in a statement to Billboard. Joe also shared the big news on his Instagram Thursday.
Given the current writer’s strike, next month’s show may look a bit different. However, BET has guaranteed a full lineup of performances and a list of nominees to ensure the evening runs smoothly. Top nominees include Cardi B and 21 Savage. Both of them are up for 12 nods a piece, while Drake snagged nine nominations of his own.Â
The 50th anniversary of hip-hop will also be observed, with newbies and OGs coming together for the event. The ceremony will take place at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta on October 3rd and will air on October 10th at 9:00 p.m.Â
