A new lawsuit claims that a Georgia Doctor is being sued by a couple after he allegedly shared “disturbing” photos of their child’s remains online.
Jessica Ross and Trevon Isaiah Taylor, Sr. are suing Dr. Jackson Gates over their baby’s autopsy, citing fraud and“intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
According to PEOPLE, this is the couple’s second lawsuit since losing their child in July due to alleged “gross negligence” during birth.
In an August lawsuit, the couple claimed their child was “decapitated” during birth by Dr. Tracey St. Julian.
The lawsuit states that Dr. Julian failed to inform the parents about the child being decapitated. Subsequently, the couple enlisted Dr. Jackson Gates to conduct an autopsy on the baby.
The couples grief intensified when they found out Dr. Gates shared a video of the baby’s “postmortem examination of the decapitated, severed head” on his Instagram, where he had about 11,500 followers.
“This video showed in graphic and grisly detail a postmortem examination of the decapitated, severed head of Baby Isaiah,” the lawsuit claims.
The first video, from July 14, was removed by Dr. Gates. The lawsuit claims he then posted two more videos from the postmortem on July 21, leaving the parents with “feelings of shock, anger, humiliation, and outrage.”
“This is one of the most egregious and outrageous cases of ‘clout chasing’ we have ever encountered,” the couple’s attorney said.
According to the lawsuit, the couple never allowed Dr. Gates to record or share videos of the process. Noting that the doctor should have considered the couples emotions during this time. It also pointed out the doctor’s prior history of posting postmortem content on Instagram.
“Based on the contents of his Instagram page, Defendant Dr. Gates had every intention of videotaping the postmortem examination of Baby Isaiah but withheld this information from the,” it says. “Plaintiffs and never sought their permission to do such videotaping.”
As of Thursday, Dr. Gates Instagram was set to private.
The couple is seeking $10,000 in punitive damages.
