Meta Platforms is collaborating with Ray-Ban to develop an enhanced pair of AI-driven sunglasses.
The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is designed to capture moments through a 12MP camera, integrated speakers, and a five-microphone system. Individuals wearing these smart glasses have the capability to livestream, indulge in music or podcasts, send messages, and initiate social media-driven calls.
To provide more convenience, these smart glasses are integrated with Meta AI. This allows users to access hands-free assistance with a simple command like “Hey Meta.”
Customers have a variety of options when it comes to personalizing their glasses, including a choice of five frame colors, which encompass matte black and shiny black. Additionally, these frames are available in three transparent colors: blue, black, and brown.
Meta highlights that the latest smart glasses provide customers with an extensive array of over 150 distinct frame and lens combinations. Additionally, these glasses are adaptable to prescription lenses when needed. Meta has also drawn attention to several other notable features of the smart glasses, including their 36-hour battery life. These glasses also benefit from an upgraded processor, enhancing their overall performance. To add, they also come in a slimmer and lighter design which adds to its comfort and style.
The initial release of these smart glasses was in September 2021, offering customers a choice of 20 different style combinations. The second generation of smart glasses is scheduled to be available for purchase starting on October 17th starting at $299.
