Shaquille O’Neal Drops $20k for his Mom to Watch John Legend and Jennifer Hudson Perform at Fundraiser

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is known for his big heart. On Saturday night, he hosted his third annual “The Event,” to raise money for his The Shaquille O’Neal Foundation.

Not only did he host it, but he also contributed significantly to the cause.

During the event’s live auction, the basketball star paid $20,000 so that his mom, Lucille O’Neal, could sit at a single table on stage for a concert that features Jennifer Hudson, Dan+Shay, John Legend, and Anderson Paak, PEOPLE reported.

“Come up here momma,” Shaq, 51, said as a table was being set up on the stage of Las Vegas’s MGM Grand. His mother joined the stag.

The former Lakers player also bid $50,000 and won a lavish vacation to Bora Bora.

Shaq formed his organization in 2019 and partnered with the Boys & Girls Club and Communities in Schools in Las Vegas and Atlanta.

During the event, Guests had the chance to bid on luxury items, including one lot on Saturday to hang out with the basketball star at his house. Another bid was on a golf round with Mark Wahlberg and a hang with David Beckham at an Inter Miami soccer game, which went for $40,000.

A live concert and a private dinner were also offered to guests at this year’s event.
