Tory Lanez can finally settle into his prison sentence after finally being moved to general population.
The “Say It” singer can now be among his peers after complaining for weeks about being on lockdown for the majority of the day while serving his sentence at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. He was previously under stricter rules due to his celebrity status, something he did not appreciate.
Now, in general population, Lanez has the opportunity to kick it with his fellow inmates and enjoy the ground amenities such as the recreation area and dayroom. Some inmates in the general population can utilize tablets to chat with loved ones, and classes are also available to help Lanez pass the time in the coming years.
During the next decade behind bars, Lanez can take a variety of courses geared at parenting, violence prevention, and drug abuse help. He may also obtain a degree. If he doesn’t want to go the school route, there are also several jobs he may be eligible for.
In the days leading to this move, rumors swirled that he’d been released on bail pending his appeal. However, this was quickly proved untrue. A judge previously denied his request for a new trial, and he was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting former friend Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. He continues to maintain his innocence.
