OutKast has received a miniature statue as a tribute to their 1998 album, Aquemini.
Sculptor and animator Steven “Concrete Jungle” Cartoccio collaborated with OutKast and Mass Appeal to craft the figurine. It was revealed on Thursday, marking the 25th anniversary of Aquemini two weeks ago. This exclusive statue is now open for pre-orders and is scheduled for release in mid-2024.
As per information found on the official Hip-Hop 50 Instagram account, the statue weighs 15 pounds and is designed to include elements from all of OutKast’s iconic albums. Additionally, it boasts the unique feature of having two interchangeable heads to represent both members of the group.
Cartoccio also disclosed that the statue will come in two variants: one without signatures and another with autographs from Andre 3000 and Big Boi themselves. The autographed edition is available for $750, while the unsigned version can be purchased for $550.
Aquemini is widely known as one of OutKast’s finest albums and is often cited as one of the greatest albums of all time. The album marked the duo’s third studio album, and featured notable singles such as “Da Art of Storytellin’ (Pt. 1)” featuring Slick Rick, “Skew It on the Bar-B” featuring Raekwon, and the Grammy-nominated hit “Rosa Parks,” which reached No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Aquemini itself reached the second spot on the Billboard 200 chart and has achieved double-platinum certification, with over two million copies sold in the United States.
