Tae Heckard has been pretty quiet regarding the drama with Teyana Taylor, their supposed friendship and Brandon Jennings and for the for the first (and probably last) time she is speaking out. If you forgot, Teyana Taylor went on The Breakfast Club last week where she says that she and Tae were good friends and had known each other for 5 years. She also says their mutual friend had to make Tae aware of Brandon’s previous involvement with Teyana, after Tae & Brandon had already been dating. Though Tae does not deny knowing Teyana, she says she’s only had 5 encounters with her in 5 years and the shoes that were “gifted” to her by Teyana Taylor were actually given to Tae’s best friend to relay to Tae so that she could shout Teyana out on Instagram.
In an Instagram post Tae writes “2 club encounters, 2 industry birthday parties, 1 yacht party, 2 miscellaneous phone calls, 2 club photos, a follow on social media and a pair of kicks you sent my best friend to give me to post on Instagram to boost sales in 5 years does not constitute a friendship. Period.” She concluded the post with caption “For the outsiders looking in….. #itsmorethanoneside #itslike5whenfeelingsinvolved #factsarefactstho #noslander #tiredofthetwistedlies“
At this point people are either going to choose to gloss over Tae’s response or believe what they want to believe. Although Tae initially chose to not entertain the subject I can see why she would want to speak out. The constant harassment of myself and my family/friends on social media by Teyana’s “fans” who think they know an entire situation based off one side of a story, can be A LOT.
In my personal opinion, this isn’t anything that hasn’t been explained before. People send popular people/tastemakers gifts to Instagram everyday. If you have a following, you too can get a free pair of shoes. That and two Instagram photos when you see each other on one of your 5 encounters in life isn’t quite enough to say we were “best friends”. It’s my suspicion that Teyana sent that story to blogs and started the “best friend” rumor because in reality, it would be the only thing that would make Tae look bad for dating a man Teyana broke up with 3 years ago. It worked. But now that two sides of the story are out, will people take both into account?
(The shoes came out in February 2012. 14 months ago puts us in 2013. So apparently the shoes were sent to Tae well after they had already come out. Not beforehand like originally stated)
And of course the 2 (and only 2) photos of Teyana and Tae Heckard.
Doesn’t quite scream “BFF” to me.
