“Love Is Blind” star Uche Okoroha says there is a good reason for his absence during the season five reunion.
Much to fans’ dismay, Okoroha was not present during the highly anticipated reunion. Some felt that he was trying to duck the smoke after a rocky romance with Aaliyah Cosby. She left the dating experiment as an engagement was on the horizon after learning that Okoroha briefly dated fellow contestant Lydia Velez Gonzalez before filming began. Some, including Cosby, had even questioned if Okoroha and Gonzalez plotted to appear on the show together. While Gonzalez and Cosby both appeared at the reunion to address the rumors, Okoroha says work prevented him from attending.
“Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the reunion due to being out of town on a business trip. As an entrepreneur, building my company is a big part of my life, and it’s taken me 7 years to get where I am now. My time is finite, and there was an incredible opportunity that I could not risk missing to record a TV show,” he wrote in a Monday Instagram Story.
However, he did hint at Cosby not being totally honest about the events leading up to their split. This is something Okoroha says he will soon elaborate on after watching the reunion.
“Sympathy is the best way to win public favor. I’ll be discussing exactly what went wrong with the relationship between Aaliyah and I soon — and instead of placing blame, I will give perspective on what I believe we BOTH could have done better.”
