Elon Musk has announced two tiers of his subscription service days after announcing the company was testing a $1 annual fee.

On Friday, the Tesla founder shared a tweet outlining the additional costs headed to the app.

“Two new tiers of X Premium subscriptions launching soon. One is lower cost with all features, but no reduction in ads, and the other is more expensive but has no ads,” Musk explained.

Twitter, now known as X, rolled out a test in New Zealand and the Philippines earlier this week. The new annual fee for the “Not A Bot” program is apparently meant to cut down on bots and spam on the app. However, it seems that this, along with the latest tier costs, is just another money grab. Back in July, Musk admitted that he had a “heavy debt load” after losing 50% of the advertising cash flow that was coming into the site.

“Need to reach positive cash flow before we have the luxury of anything else,” Musk tweeted at the time.

We’re still negative cash flow, due to ~50% drop in advertising revenue plus heavy debt load. Need to reach positive cash flow before we have the luxury of anything else.

For this reason, users should expect to spend more money if they wish to continue tweeting. Twitter already has a $8 monthly subscription plan for its X Premium plan. This gives users a blue checkmark and additional features, such as post editing. However, this is only for the desktop version. The app Premium Plan is $11 a month.

Musk hasn’t revealed the new tier costs as of yet.
