Kane West has put aside his dreams of running for president, at least for now.
Following a failed bid in 2020, the rapper’s attorney, Bruce Marks, announced Ye will not challenge President Joe Biden next November.
“He’s not a candidate for office in 2024,” Marks confirmed to Rolling Stone.
Ye’s 2020 political committee has no money set aside for primaries, and apparently, this is the same in every state across the country, the Federal Election Commission report of expenditures for January to September of this year shows.
In other words, no money was made and he reportedly has less than $25,000 cash on hand, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Ye, at one point, seemed serious about his presidential bid, but after a string of public mishaps, including antisemitic remarks and erratic behavior, he has kept a low profile.
An anonymous source close to the situation told Rolling Stone that Ye hasn’t entirely closed the door, but “there’s no plan to do [run for president]… there’s no campaign structure or anything along those lines in place,” adding that the chances of West mounting a campaign “beyond remote.”
West has not personally commented on the decision not to run.
