Lupita Nyong’o Announces Split From Boyfriend Selema Masekela After Spotted with Joshua Jackson

Lupita Nyong’o says she and her boyfriend, Selema Masekela, have parted ways.

The actress disclosed that he had completely lost her trust. But she doesn’t seem to be fazed by it. She was spotted with recently divorced Joshua Jackson and some friends for a night out.

The duo were spotted at Janelle Monae’s concert in Los Angeles.

On Thursday, Lupita posted her thoughts to those suffering around the world and then switched over to her breakup.

“At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust…”

“I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”

“I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, ‘Whatever, my life is better this way,'” she explained. “But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass.”

Nyong’o, 40, hopes sharing her breakup with followers might help someone else who is going through “the grip of heartbreak who is poised to try and escape from the pain and miss out on the wisdom that comes from it.”

“The promise, they say, is that a tender heart is what gives birth to fearlessness,” she added. “I hope it’s true.”

Masekela, a designer, disclosed he had a crush on the actress in 2016. The two went official on Instagram in December 2022, when She posted at the time, “We just click!” and “#thisismylove.”
