Lil Wayne is not feeling his wax figurine, which has gone viral on social media.
The statue, which is housed at the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, has landed itself as the internet’s latest debate. For one, the sculpture is noticeably short and sporting a huge, somewhat creepy smile. What the sculptors did seem to get right was the rapper’s blonde-tipped locs and his tattoos. However, Wayne wasn’t impressed, and on Monday, he spoke out about the image.

“Sorry, wax museum, but dat sh** ain’t me! You tried, tho, and I appreciate the effort,” Weezy tweeted.

The celebrity wax figure industry has been taking L’s in the past few days. The Grévin Museum in Paris debuted its Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson construction, which appeared “whitewashed.” However, Travis Barker’s Madame Tussauds wax figure in Las Vegas, Nevada, seems to be the only one to get it right, leaving fans stunned by its accuracy.
Weezy doesn’t typically comment on these types of things. Therefore, the odd statue may have genuinely bothered him, and rightfully so. One Twitter fan questioned whether sculptors knew how to depict Black entertainers properly. Nevertheless, the figure’s unveiling coincided with news of 2Chainz and Wayne releasing a joint album, so it seems the museum had good intentions.
The wax figures of Lil Wayne & The Rock are terrible, but it crazy how Travis looks amazing. Do they not know how to do people of color? pic.twitter.com/021tirZw5N
