Lizzo’s tour employees are coming to her defense against the claims made against her in a sexual harassment lawsuit.
To refresh your memory, three of Lizzo’s former dancers have made several accusations against her, from fat shaming to pushing them into extremely uncomfortable social settings. The most talked about happening was a European sex show where one of the dancers was pressured to eat a banana from the crotch of one of the entertainers. Other staffers who were not part of the lawsuit also spoke out against the singer to back the women’s claims. Amid so much backlash, Lizzo was still awarded the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award in September 2023, an indicator to some that the industry is still on the singer’s side, and now, her employees are also showing such solidarity.
According to TMZ, which obtained new court documents in the case, 18 employees with Lizzo’s Big Grrrl Big Touring wrote statements slamming Lizzo’s accusers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez. One letter, penned by dancer Kiara Mooring, flat out denied that performers would be punished for refusing to hang out with Lizzo off-stage at the Bananenbar sex performance in Amsterdam.
“This claim also makes no sense because plenty of the dancers (myself included) did not go to Bananenbar that night, and we still have our job dancing with Lizzo,” Mooring wrote.
Another dancer, Melissa Locke, shared that after speaking with Davis and Rodriguez the morning after the banana incident, they seemed excited about the night out and didn’t express any disapproval about it. Lizzo has maintained her innocence, alluding to the women being disgruntled former employees.
The accusers are seeking damages for their alleged experiences.
