A group of women have filed a federal lawsuit against Kansas City, Kansas, that alleges they were raped and humiliated by police officers, including a retired detective.

The five women claim former detective Roger Golubski and other “dirty cops” used the “power of their badges to exploit Black women.” They say the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City enabled its officers to engage in exploitative behavior, such as stalking, assaulting, and raping Kansas City residents. The lawsuit also alleges that many of the attacks happened while the officers were wearing their badges and in possession of their guns.

The lawsuit claims the five women were intimidated by the officers and could not report the crimes. According to Law and Crime, when one woman threatened to file a complaint, Golbuski said, “Report me to who, the police? I am the police.” The lawsuit described it as a government-sanctioned “protection racket.”

According to KCTV, the lawsuit individually names former police chiefs Thomas Dailey, James Swafford, and Ronald Miller.

Roger Golubski, Terry Zeigler, Michael Kill, Clayton Bye, and Dennis Ware are the officers named in the lawsuit, with Golubski facing charges related to rape, kidnapping, and sex trafficking.

He has denied the allegations against him.
