Timbaland has issued an apology to Britney Spears after the producer faced backlash for claiming that Justin Timberlake should’ve “put a muzzle” on the ‘Toxic’ singer following the release of her bombshell memoir.
On Tuesday, he took to TikTok Live to apologize for his recent comments.
“I’m sorry to all the Britney fans, even to her,” he stated. “You have a voice. You speak what you want to speak. Who am I to tell you what not to speak?”
“I was wrong for saying that,” he added.

The apology video comes just a few days after he slammed Spears during a panel for “Sounds Architects: A Producer Conversation” last week.
During the panel, Timbaland said he was tempted to contact the *NSYNC member after reading about Spears’s connection with Timberlake in her memoir, “The Woman in Me.”
“I wanted to call and say, ‘JT, you gotta put a muzzle on that,’” he said.
Timberland further claimed that Spears was trying to “do something to get people’s attention.”
“You know what? We live in the age of social media, and … everybody wants to go viral,” he said. “I get it because that’s the way you make money [is to] go viral,” he said.
Many fans were disgusted by the producer’s comments; some even called him a misogynist.
Later, during his TikTok Live, Timberland emphasized that he fully respects all women.
