Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, is back in the news again. Two weeks ago, we reported the Brooklyn rapper’s plans to sue the NYPD over an alleged false arrest. Today, XXL Magazine confirmed the trial that was originally set to start on February 22, 2016 has been postponed yet again.
Shmurda was arrested on December 17, 2014 for several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree. The rapper pled not guilty on all counts and has been locked up ever since with several attempts to post bail being denied.
Just weeks before the initial trial date, Kati Cornell, the Director of Public Information at the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor in New York, told XXL that they trial had been pushed back to May 11, 2016. However, there’s been yet another delay and the trial will not begin until September 12.
The reason for the trial being pushed back is unknown, although it’s being reported that attorneys representing the GS9 crew have requested the delay.
