Casanova’s co-defendants, Dwight Reid and Christopher Erskine, have been found guilty of their role in the massive racketeering and drug trafficking case.
Reid and Erskine were the final two people convicted in the case, which targeted 21 members and affiliates of the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods Gang, per Vibe. The Justice Department of the Southern District of New York claims Reid and Erskine were the highest-ranking members of the gang. Prosecutors claim they carried out and ordered multiple violent acts.
They were both convicted of one count of racketeering conspiracy and one count of narcotics conspiracy. Reid and Erskine are expected to serve the minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years for the racketeering charge and at least ten years for the narcotics. The men and their gang were based in Brooklyn and operated largely in Crown Heights and Flatbush.
Rapper Casanova was previously given 15 years in prison for his role in the organization. Under his plea, Casanova admitted to trafficking at least 100 kilograms of weed, a 2018 robbery that left one woman severely injured, and a 2020 shooting over a gambling argument. As part of his plea for a more lenient sentence, he denounced his gang affiliations, but a judge was not swayed.
“They now stand convicted of their crimes and will no longer be able to inflict harm on the people of our District,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams after Reid and Erskine were convicted.
