Jamie Foxx is facing a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman at a New York City restaurant in 2015, but he’s strongly denying these claims. His spokesperson told PEOPLE that the alleged incident never occurred, referring to a similar lawsuit filed in 2020 in Brooklyn that was dismissed. They believe this new claim will also be dismissed and plan to sue for malicious prosecution.
The lawsuit was filed in the New York Supreme Court. According to the documents, the woman, referred to as Jane Doe, claims the incident happened at Catch NYC in August 2015. She alleges that after asking Foxx for a picture, he appeared drunk and began making comments about her appearance. The lawsuit says he then led her to a secluded area, touched her inappropriately, and only stopped when her friend returned.
The lawsuit also mentions that a security guard witnessed the incident but didn’t help. It was filed on the last day allowed by New York’s Adult Survivors Act, a law that gave sexual assault victims a one-year window to sue, regardless of when the assault happened.
Jane Doe claims she’s suffered physically and emotionally, including anxiety and economic harm, and is seeking damages for her pain and suffering, as well as punitive damages.
